Paint Party and Semi-Humiliating Dance Off

I'm pretty sure paint parties are some sort of rite of passage at university. Warwick's was last night, on the first Monday of Fresher's. I'm pretty lucky that I got a ticket, as they sold out so quickly.

Now everyone always stresses about what to wear to theses sort of messy events, but I managed to settle on my denim shorts, flip flops and my freshers t-shirt which I had cropped to the extreme. Saying this, pretty much anything you don't mind getting dirty goes, apart from heels, never wear heels.

Again I'd been to late on the Sunday to pick up a freshers t-shirt (they'd sold out by 11am!!) but after hearing that there was one t-shirt left on the whole of campus and it was in the Piazza, my group had pretty much ran to go and see how we could acquire it. It turned out it was through a dance off and anyone who knows me will know that the only kind of dancing that comes naturally to me is the 'twerk like a 13 year old gypsy' kind so I was pretty nervous. It turned out to be Gangnam Style, but I was super keen for the tshirt so I gave it a go even though I had no idea how to do the dance. Turns out by sheer luck, and partly down to the supposed boringness of every other fresher on campus that the people dancing with me were all second years and not eligible for the t-shirt. SO I WON. Gained myself a reputation as a bit of a douche for dancing in front of everyone, but I like to tell myself that it just showed that I don't take myself to seriously.

Back to the paint party. After a considerable pre-drink we rocked up to the SU around 11pm to start the fun. It was packed, like full to capacity packed, so I was pretty worried I wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the paint guns. Luckily Matt from next door is pretty sneaky when it comes to getting the front and so using my womanly wiles and his tallness we managed to push our way to the front where I was blasted right in the middle of the chest by the guy with the paint gun.  It was a crazy night, with lots of slipping over, messy hair and hugging our painty bodies against dry and clean strangers. When I awoke in the morning with a pretty sore head after apparently breaking into one of my friends rooms to bundle them in their sleep I felt like it might be time for some time off. But no, it was time to get stuck into introductory lectures and prepare for yet another night in the SU.
